The downside to the new shows is that you'll need the hard drive space (and bandwidth allowances) for both shows (which will likely be over 1GB per episode), but that's the price you pay for multiple device support. Between the extra iPod functionality and the ability to view HD shows on a computer of Apple TV, the new offerings seem to be pretty good value. When you buy an HD show, the SD version will automatically be downloaded, and the new version of iTunes will magically sync it to your iPod or iPhone for easy viewing when you're out and about. I'm guessing that Steve was just excited to get to the new iPod colors, but either way, it's nice to hear that HD downloaders will be getting a bit more bang for their buck. ![]() Yesterday's Apple event started with the HDTV announcement, but the fact that the shows would be coming in standard definition as well wasn't mentioned. The extra? A copy of the show in SD format for handy iPod viewing. In fact, Apple is being extra-generous with the HDTV programming, and will be including an extra with each HD episode. If you were worried about not getting your money's worth out of the $2.99 you'll be spending to download HDTV episodes from the iTunes Store, never fear. ![]()
